The hard part(s) about teaching

Dammit, it's hard being a teacher. And I've only been at it for two weeks.

Oh no no no..Wait. Let me introduce myself. I stumbled upon your blog through a link and another link and another link. Basically, it was one of those random things.

Let me tell you something about blogging about school/your students/colleagues. It's a BIG, HUGE ASS NO NO NO. I did that and guess what? My students found it and they (their oh so innocent minds thinking I was really funny with my swear words, curses and gossips) decided to put a link to my blog without telling me. So yes, a colleague found the link and went on to the hmm...'proper authority' and said that my blog's content was ... inappropriate.

Well, instead of coming up to me to tell me what was happening, she/he decided to rat and got me into a whole lot of trouble. So as a teacher who have blogged/bitched endlessly about school, NEVER EVER do that.

Wow, that sucks. But bosses, in general, are getting more twitchy about blogs, so as a rule of thumb, I don't blog anything that I wouldn't be able to live with if it got circulated through email by strangers.

I hope you found a way to continue blogging without incurring the wrath of your boss(es)!

But that's the point of a blog right? Writing about things that you normally wldn't talk about to any old auntie on the street. To vent your anger and frustrations or to share certain things that are happening in your life that you don't have time to pick up the phone and start chattering away and repeating the story for the thousandth time.

Well, I've learnt my lesson and I've learnt it well. I forbid anyone of my friends to put a link on their site to my blog. So now, it remains very private.

Actually, if I just want to vent, I do it in my old-economy journal, which I know is privy only to mine eyes. Anything on the web is fair game for the general public; even if you tell people you know not to link you, that doesn't stop complete strangers, curious passersby or well-intentioned web-surfers from doing so.

Above all, of course, there's always the quavering fear that the parentals will find the blog. ;)
