Bloggers.SG cheatsheet

This one's for Ondine, who was quietly reading Harry Potter at the bar instead of paying attention to the actual convention proceedings.

How to find out who's linking to your blog

Go to Technorati.com.
Type your blog URL into the Search bar in the middle of the page.
This throws up a results page that shows you who's been linking to your blog, in reverse chronological order. This is how I promptly tracked down Cowboy Caleb this morning and caught him spilling the beans about Saturday night.
You can also click on "Tags" to see blog posts that are tagged with a particular topic, e.g. Bloggers.SG. Of course, this identifies only those posts that the writers themselves have diligently tagged.
And finally, you can become a Technorati member, which lets you claim your blog, have your own watchlist, and other nifty tricks.

What's with trackbacks?

Trackbacks are a way of linking your blog post to a related one elsewhere in the blogosphere. E.g. I wrote my take on Bloggers.SG and submitted it as a trackback to Tomorrow.sg's page on blogger con reports, so that people who read the Tomorrow page will see that mine is one of the many posts blogged about the same topic. (Again, this depends on the writer of the blog post to manually submit the trackback to the originating URL.)
To get to the trackback URL of a particular blog post, just click on the link that's named, self-evidentially, "trackback" and follow the instructions thereafter.
Blogger users like us don't get trackback pages and, it is said, tend to use Haloscan's free trackback service.

How do I find blog posts about Bloggers.SG, so that I can find ~~stalk~~ find all the exciting blogs that you've been messaging me about?

There are several ways you can do this:

Go to Tomorrow.sg's trackback page for blogger con reports.
Go to Technorati.com's tag page for Bloggers.SG.
If you've written your own post about the con, enter its URL into the Technorati Search box and see who's linked to you (chances are, they've probably scribbled something about the con themselves).
And if that hasn't satiated your thirst, there's always good ol' Google.
